"Fab hotel"
i thought this was a really good hotel, it was clean and the people were very friendly! it is handy for for pisa central and Florence. Me and my friend stayed here march 2005 and it was perfect. there is a bus that stop right outside the hotel and it takes you from the hotel to pisa central, to the airport AND right outside the train station to get train to florence which is 10 euros return. Florence a must see. and then you can get the bus back to the hotel. its basically goes in a big circle and if your flying into BGY you can get this bus to your hotel. The famous bus is number 3. but the actual hotel is great. very comfortable and clean. its kind of not like a hotel. its like chalets. like differet huts spread around the place with about 4 rooms in each. but i just couldnt believe how handy it was for everything. Pisa is amazing. food divine.

"Pleasantly Surprised"
Im just back from a very nice stay at the Best Western California Park Hotel in Pisa, and after reading some of the reviews had told my three comrades to expect the worst! We arrived after midnight and were greeted by the night porter, our hearts sank when we realised he wanted to keep our passports until 12 midday the following morning. We objected and asked him to take a photocopy. Which he did without a problem. He guided us to our room and off we trekked to Cabin A. The rooms, were very very clean and warm with a temperature control gauge in the room (it was January), the shower was great, we had plenty of towels, the mini bar was well stocked 1.50euro for a bottle of water and 3.00euro for a half bottle of wine – not bad at all! The bed was huge and it was only the next morning we realised it was two big single beds pushed together, you wouldn’t notice. The shutters on the windows kept out the morning sun. The TV was adequate with two English speaking channels. Breakfast was served from 7am to 10am in the dining room, we arrived in at 9.50am. It was buffet style, cornflakes, and muesli, a few different selections of crackers, crusty bread rolls, butter, jams & chocolate spread. The coffee from the machine was fine, and there was also tea, water and a refreshing fruit juice on offer. When we sat down at the table the waitress brought over, ham, cheese, some chocolate pastries, croissants and a selection of small cakes. We had plenty of choice and were stuffed by the time we headed off for the day. When we returned to freshen up that evening before heading out again, our bed had been made, the bathroom had been cleaned and we had a whole selection of clean towels and shower gels. It is definitely not a four star from our standards but it is a good 3 star hotel. In terms of location to Pisa centre, it is a good distance, but a bus seems to pass just outside the hotel. We hired a car at the airport so it wasn’t an issue. I would stay at this hotel again!

Misleading
My boyfriend and I have just returned from a stay at this hotel, and were disappointed to say the least. Despite the description saying it was close to the Tower, it was in the middle of nowhere, and took either a €12 taxi ride, or a good half an hour on the (very cramped and hot) bus. We had requested a double bed and had this confirmed, but it was actually two singles beds sandwiched together. Needless to say, they didn't want to stay put. Although the hotel has what is supposedly a highly acclaimed restaurant, we were unable to have our dinner there. Although there was ample space left inside, it seemed they were only serving the outside tables, of which there were maybe only two-thirds full. After being told that we would have to wait an hour and a half, taking it to 10pm, we went in search of an alternative and ended up eating at the McDonalds down the road. To then finally put the icing on the cake, the walls of our room were paper thin and we suffered a very poor night's sleep because of it. If you're looking for a cheap stop this would do the job, but don't expect the high standards promised as they simply weren't there. |
